Oldonyoyoike Girls Secondary School, Magadi has no running water and has substandard sanitation facilities. The club in partnership with Stemmer Hardware and Paints, delivered a rainwater storage tank to the school which will improve the health and education of 120 students.
COVID 19 has shown us the need for the very basic needs of hygiene, which is water and soap, which most of these children lack in their schools.

The schools have reopened and most of the public schools are still underprepared to meet basic requirements.

The headteacher Mrs. Kimani pointed that the school is faced with other challenges like sharing of beds in a squeezed dorm, early pregnancies and marriages, bathing in the bush, lack of the girls basic needs. Despite the harsh conditions, the girls find the school is more than a place to study but a safe haven from hard labour, child marriage & Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
She hopes to get support donation from well wishers and see the girls are comfortable and empowered.

Despite the challenges the girls are facing, we got an opportunity to get entertained with Masai rich folklore songs.

We are planning to go back and provide another tank and mentor them.
